Update - cash milestone reached

Quick poker update

Been grinding the tournies on stars without much success of late. Played about 20 this saturday just gone and had 5 deep runs but I just do not flip well when it matters... sigh. Saturday was the first day of a new schedule they are putting up regularly on stars aimed at recreational players with a load of low buy in tournaments with big guarentees slapped on them. I played well enough and enjoyed my session but it was another late night for a break even sesh.

In the run up to vegas I started grinding 6 max cash for practice and have continued this post vegas. I started at 10NL as I'm not that well versed in the format, so want to make sure I can beat the lower limits before moving up. It seems that I'm doing a Corkeye, every time I sit down I'm having winning sessions of late and am running hotter than the sun. I have just this hour hit 10k hands and here are my stats and my graph. I'll try and post a cash update every 10k hands.

Vegas is over, the hunger is not! Bank holiday monday so can fully take advantage of sunday schedule - hopefully some run good is due.

My job is so fucking unbelievable. I'll try to sum it up by first telling you about the folks I work with:  First, there is this supermodel wanna-be chick. Yeah, okay, she is pretty hot, but damn is she completely useless. The girl is constantly fixing her hair or putting on make-up. She is extremely self-centred and has never once considered the needs or wants of anyone but herself. She is as dumb as a box of rocks, and I still find it surprising that she has enough brain power to continue to breathe.  The next chick is completely the opposite. She might even be one of the smartest people on the planet. Her career opportunities are endless, and yet she is here with us. She is a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm not sure she even showers, much less shaves her "womanly" parts. I think she might be a lesbian, because every time we drive by the hardware store she moans like a cat in heat.  But the jewel of the crowd has got to be the fucking stoner. And this guy is more than just your average pothead. In fact, he is baked before he comes to work, during work, and I'm sure after work. He probably hasn't been sober any time in the last ten years, and he's only 22. He dresses like a beatnik throwback from the 1960's, and to make things worse, he brings his big fucking dog to work. Every fucking day I have to look at this huge Great Dane walk around half-stoned from the second-hand smoke. Hell, sometimes I even think it's trying to talk with its constant bellowing. Also, both of them are constantly hungry, requiring multiple stops to McDonald's and Burger King, every single fucking day.  Anyway, I drive these fucktards around in my van and we solve mysteries and shit.

Back home. Live 1-2 tonight anyone?

Flight was delayed but only cost me an hour and i made all my connections ok. Just on train to leeds so another 2.5hrs and thats my 15 hour journey done. Actually managed to sleep on the plane, never normally happens. Watched the little fockers film or whatever its called, huge let down. Bonk.

Reading this blog back i dont think ive covered 50% of the stuff thats happened. Most isnt really bloggable though i guess as its either poker hands or situations where you probably had to be there to find it funny. BAM!

Im going to find it hard to adjust back to reality, it is like a fantasy world out there. But ive come home with very few regrets. Only things i can think of is not getting on the NYNY lollercoaster when drunk (as it was shut, not turned away!!!), and i guess not getting more photos an shit. We are already thinking when we can go again, hopefully not too long

Not sure what will happen to this blog. Might turn it into a general poker blog which is something i started doing last year but it kinda disappeared of the agenda. Or i may add rando TR from time to time. I defo think i can write better than this too but its been a tough combination of using a phone to type and doing it when i get a limited spare few minutes.

Trip over yo

Sat at the airport waiting to go home. Supposedly my flights delayed an hour but the boards arent showing this, fuck nose.

So since the last time i updated we have just been chilling, playing poker an eating nice food. Very impressed with the cuisine here, had a sweet mexican last night that we both really enjoyed. Grinded until 4am and woke at 9 to do some shopping and grab brekkie. Checked out, thought kev was gonna reach over and punch the check out guy at one point. We have these loyalty cards that give us a dollar an hour for playing cards, but you basically cant redeem them anywhere. We tried to use it to pay our resort fees but he wasnt having it so i guess we will save them for next time :-D

Its been a great experience. It feels like we have been here much longer than a week, but in a good way. You lose all track of time here. At one point yesterday i panicked that it was a day later than it actually was and we had missed our flights! Whoopsie

Poker has been enjoyable. Table banter an the buzz from playing in vegas. Results have kind of sucked for me but the champ has done ace so thats cool. He has looked after me to say the least

Hopefully the flight is ok, plenty more awful films in the pipeline and im well an truly knacked so a sleep seems appealing, if uncomfortable and inevitably interruption filled. Unfoetunately im flying back to gatwick while kev goes to manc (flight change issues as i was supposed to be here for 2 weeks to meet naomi) so i dont have anyone to pwn at multiplayer plane chess..... Or maybe i will

Shits popping yo

So once I had got kev up we headed down to the pool to catch some sun. We got a bucket of beer an just chilled for a while. Got chatting to a canadian couple who were hilarious an then we got on the vodka jellies.... Big mistake. These were loaded and mixed with a load of beer it was a lethal combination. We stumbled upstairs to get ready to go out and both passed out. Epic fail! Probably because our sleep patterns are so messed up.

Yesterday we spent the morning at the pool and spent the afternoon in the card room. Kev won, i lost. Whoop de fucking do. Just worked out he is running at over 100bb/100 which if you dont know is spectacular. I built my stack nicely before my aces got cracked by 34 sooted, and then ran flushes into higher flushes etc. Standard for the trip

We got our first shoe shine yesterday by this mexican dude. Absolute ledge, a real character. We then had a fine dining experience at sage in aria. Awesome food, 4 course set menu with amazing flavours. Most tender beef ive ever had, very good experience. We rounded that off with beer and tequila at hooters lol. From elegance to dive in 5 mins. Doubt we will go back there ever but it was near the hotel an very cheap.

Today is our last full day providing this ash cloud business doesnt get us stranded. Think we are going for food an go see the blue man group later. Looks fun.

Update from sin city

I havent really had time to update much last two days, as ive been playing poker continuously!! Degen behaviour....

We played saturday at the mgm, i went to sleep at 6 and woke at 8:30. Shower, breakfast and then poker until 1am lulz. Played at aria yesterday for the first time an its total amaze. Very pretty an comfortable room and met some interesting peeps there. Also saw some top pros like barry greenstein in the ivey room playing high stakes cashish.

After a session there we had a great meal at wolfgang puck, mmm delicious. We then headed to planet hollywood but i didnt stay long. Worst card room ive been to, very loud and full of obnoxious angle shooting drunks. Lack of sleep caught up with me so i went to bed while kev serial messaged me to come back out! As he got in, i got up and have just played a turbo tourney but finished just shy of the money having made it to the last two tables.

Kev continues to just beast the cash games 24/7. Im slightly down for the trip but considering the amount of free drink ive had its probably about evens. I just dont seem to be able to get anything going, its a wonder im not well down really so thankfully ive generally been playing well.

Planning to do some fine dining tonight and also catch a show either tonight or tomorrow. Sorry its not more interesting but im guessing nobody wants to hear a long blog about bad beatz! Having a great time and 4 days left to enjoy, peace out yo

The strip, the heat and more poker?

Let me start by saying my blog thingy isnt letting me reply to comments but i appreciate reading them, thanks.

So we had a great first day, just wandering the strip and checking out the casinos. We left at 10:30am and just walked until gone 5pm, the strip is huge. Most enjoyable, just having banter and laughing all the way round. Id say the venetian is teh most impressive casino, absolutely johnny mintos inside. Had a radical lunch consisting of a burger wrapped inside an onion ring. It was FEROCIOUS! Some of the shops are awesome, and i had the best margherita (sp?) at the venetian. Blackcurrent with loads of tequila - sweet! We debated a romantic gondola ride at length, deciding it would not be appropriate. Maybe when we are drunk eh!

Its extremely hot here btw. Sorry. Just sayin :-P

We picked up some supplies and headed back to the room for beer and music to just chill and watch the sunset, before heading down the poker room at about 7:30. The plan was to play for a bit here before dinner and then moving on to another card room. Instead we played through to 6am! Lol. Was just hard to leave, so many droolers :-D

After about 5 mins of playing kev had built another wall of chips, guy is seriously crushing it over here. I managed to drop another buy in when my 2 pair failed to hold against a flush draw, all in on the flop. I also had to watch in horror as i made a good disciplined fold with ak against a guy who was clearly super strong and ended up showing down queens. The window card was obv the ace and some fish next to me lost his stack with QJo. All in pre. Notsureifserious.gif

I took a walk to clear my head a little and came back to reload and proceeded to start crushing immediately. Hitting sets and making boats became standard and i was soon back to level par for the trip. I had a fun table last night and really enjoyed it too, and the time just flew. This drunk guy was giving nick names to everyone and started calling me right said fred! Lol. He also randomly started calling this black dude carlton, which was slightly racial but he took it well. When the table broke i managed to go sit at kevs table to watch the phenom in action first hand. I think one guy actually left the table because of his intimidating stack of chips! We cashed out not too long after an headed upstairs for a well earned 4hrs rest....

Anyways, its saturday so we are going to go get some breakfast and hit the felt.

Jet lag, poker and cold decks

So last night we hit the card room at the MGM. I was a tiny bit nervous at first due to my lack of live play recently but everyone on the table was dead friendly and also fairly terrible at cards, so it didnt take long to settle in. Unfortunately i got cold decked last night so not the best start!!

First hand of note came up when i limped 33 on the button after a few other limpers and we saw a 37Q flop. Checked to me so i bet out just under the pot an get two callers. Turn is a 4 an the player first to act leads and the other player flats, so i shoved an was called by the flatter who then shows me 56 off suit. Nice hand sir!

I then ran pocket queens into kings pre flop, cooler. An finally i hit trips only to come up against a better trips. Oh well, not a great start and a buy in dropped. One great thing about playing in the poker room is that drinks are free, so i got a few nice cold coronas at least! I decide not to reload as im tired and although its only 9:30 vegas time, my time is 4:30am!

I go see kev who is sat with a fat stack of chips and a huge grin, wish him luck and retire to the room for a well earned 12 hour sleep. Kev returns at 4am - lawl. Basically 11am for us having not long landed and he has cleaned up. Well done buddy :-D

He is treating me to dinner tonight. Whoop! Had a good first day today, will update in my next post. Hope all is good back home.

We have landed

Got to vegas safe an sound. Flight was pretty epic, terrible films including the mechanic an the dilemma. Room is very nice, large an on the 24th floor with sweet views.

Been for a wander round the MGM. Quite surreal when tired, very very big! Seen the lions an had some nice cold sam adams lagers. Quick shower an off to check out the poker room. Have been awake now for 18 hrs.... Should be fun :-D

Work is done! Today was surprisingly pleasant and didnt drag its feet too much. I like my 9-5 but I hate my commute. Give a bunch of people a busy train and a crowded platform and they turn into animals. This morning however, I was fully in "smug mode" and not even the cramped conditions could wipe the grin off my face. Enjoy your commute for the next week or so you goytes!

A nice 2 hour lunch with a few cheeky bevrado's followed by our servers going down meant an incredibly lazy afternoon for me. I'm now finished, fully packed and about to leave to get the train to manchester

Preparing for Vegas

So I'm off to Vegas on Wednesday!! Well, Manchester airport to be exact to meet up with my partner in crime Kev aka Corkeye as we fly early Thursday morning. We are both understandably very excited, having booked this trip way back in December it always seemed a long way off but somehow now it feels like the time has flown. Wheird.

Everything is set and ready now, I just need to pack and get through these last few days of work and I'm outta here. I thought doing a blog might be a cool way to keep a record of my trip as I should be able to update straight from my phone using the free wi-fi in the casinos. Hopefully its interesting enough for peeps to read back home too, I'd be surprised if I couldn't find anything interesting to write about!

I'll use this blog to update on all the tourist type activities we get up to, and also the poker as we are no doubt going to play quite a lot. For anyone not understanding the obscure blog title / name - my main online screen name for poker is Koala. I like Koalas as they sleep roughly 23hrs a day, and I picked this screen name when I was just fresh out of my student days so it kind of fit with me.
